Lemu is an app available for Android and iOS.

What is Lemu?
Lemu is a based, accessible, digital platform that brings together a global community of people committed to acting on behalf of nature.
Lemu is an app created to value life on Earth.
Who’s behind Lemu?
Behind Lemu is a group of people inspired by nature and driven by science: curious, action-oriented and a bit nerdy, coming from diverse places and life stories. We live in 9 cities on 3 continents and share a common goal:
We want to improve our world by bringing nature online.
If we succeed, we’ll have unleashed the natural capital of planet Earth and guaranteed the balanced survival of as many species as possible.

We are experts in turning unstructured data into actionable information, and we are passionate about using the most advanced technology to preserve and protect the only known planet with life on it.

Collective Intelligence.

We firmly believe that the best possible outcome is only achievable by working together, that is why we are building the largest and most diverse network possible for the ecosystems to thrive.

If you are a steward of nature, from a public park service to a private conservation land trust or local communities and NGOs working for our planet, please consider joining our network.

An Atlas of the Biosphere.

We found a way to help tackle the environmental crisis: By bringing nature, people and organizations together through a global data-driven social community dedicated to the conservation of the world's ecosystems.
Come explore!
You are here.
This is Earth. The only living planet we know so far.

The only planet we share.
Satellite data reveals how precious and fragile our natural world is, enabling us to measure and track billions of hectares efficiently at scale..
Seeing the invisible
We combine satellite data and hyperspectral imagery to build a collection of maps, geospatial information, data layers and 3D models of terrestrial ecosystems.
We bridge nature lovers interested in acting to reverse the climate crisis and organizations that have the ability to care for and preserve them.
Light of the Forest
We also rely on technologies for environmental conservation through in situ data collection, such as:
Environmental DNA – to learn about the biodiversity and health of life forms in a habitat.

LiDAR remote sensing technology – to scan hundreds of hectares at very high resolution, from aircraft and drones, to understand ecosystem architecture, biomass and topography.

Our very own satellite – In 2023 we will launch Lemu Nge or "Eye of the Forest", a nanosatellite dedicated to biodiversity observation.
Welcome to Lemu

By combining all this data, we can create something powerful:
An atlas of the biosphere, with which you can:
Learn + connect + act = impact.
Welcome to Lemu

Learn + connect + act = impact.
It's time to pay trees, birds, bees and the rest of our biosphere for the work they do.
To that end, we developed an app where nature enthusiasts can connect, learn and adopt acres of conservation projects from around the world.
We believe that valuing nature should not be a philanthropic act, but the best possible investment to help tackle climate change and protect the Earth's ecosystems.
Big data for a small world
Our attribute? We are based and we rely on multiple sources of geospatial data, such as:
Satellite data
Third-party open data
Collaborative data
All to identify, measure and track the value that ecosystems generate every day.
What do we get from investing in nature?
To understand the value of a biome we need to understand the ecosystem services it provides.
Forests store carbon, provide medicines and support biodiversity. The return on investment is immense, but not immeasurable.
Supporting Services
The fundamental support that enables all other ecosystem services. For example, elemental nutrient cycles for fertile soils.
Provisioning Services
All the natural resources obtained from an ecosystem: freshwater, food, medicine, minerals.
Regulating Services
The benefits obtained from regulation of ecosystem processes. For example, pollination, since it allows the reproduction of species that are fundamental for our food supply.
Cultural Services
The non-material benefits humans obtain from ecosystems, including recreational and tourism activities.
Ecocentric Services (Ecocentric Function)
The ecocentric benefits that nature provides to non-human organisms. That is, the importance of nature for nature itself.
Algorithm of the forest
By combining advanced data sources we assign a non-monetary value to each ecosystem: a LemuIndex.
LemuIndex is an algorithm under development that aims to prioritize ecosystem services and evolutionary history and their future on a global scale. The index equilibrates anthropocentric and ecocentric approaches, in order to balance academic rigor and complexity in a simple way.
Invest in the future of Earth
Think of the difference in value between a seed and a tree. What if you could invest in that growth – and incentivise it?
By bringing nature online we are building an ecosystem in which stewards and nature lovers can connect, interact, and generate a verifiable impact.

We designed Lemu: a community through which you can contribute, in more ways than one, to the regeneration, preservation and restoration of ecosystems.

An app created to value life on Earth.
Lemu connects stewards seeking long-term support to protect the natural areas they manage with enthusiasts who want to take action and be part of the change, exploring, sharing information about the natural world and conservation areas in need of protection and investment.
